As automotive windscreens become more sophisticated and carry so much technology like sensors, heating elements, cameras and other ADAS rated equipment, they also become lighter as manufacturers chase the ultimate of performance and lightness.  Therein lies the challenge – the roads are no better today than they were 40 years ago and unfortunately, modern screens are no match for a bouncing stone from a pothole or the side of the road coming at you at 60 miles per hour!  Add the fact that some of the glass manufacturers are either taking 6 months to provide replacements (or indeed offering “less expensive” replacements) then your screen is something worth protecting – for peace of mind and reducing the hassle of having to transport your car to the nearest repair centre for a replacement (that rarely fit as well as the originals).
